The advances in mobile computing, location sensing, and wireless networking have led to a new class of computing, namely location-aware computing. Location-awareness concerns the use of information about a person’s geographical location to provide more relevant information and services to that person. Location-aware systems play a central role in ubiquitous computing to sense and react to real-world context.  The aim of this paper is to provide a brief introduction to location-aware computing.
